In view of the COP30, United Nations Conference on Climate Change, which is currently being held in Belém do Pará, Brazil, as Vedruna Family we join the initiative of the UISG-USG: “Religious life for climate justice: turning hope into action”.
As the Vedruna Charismatic Family, “we carry in our hearts the critical situation of our planet and of humanity in this hour of climatic emergency“. Aware of the growing gap between rich and poor, which cries out for an evangelical and transforming response (“Born Again“, 56), we urgently feel the call to deepen our interrelationship among ourselves and with Mother Earth with greater humanity, from the gaze and heart of the God of Life, full of mercy, tenderness, compassion and care.
Therefore, as we join the path towards COP30, we want to do it from our identity and mission: as Sisters and Lay people who, inspired by the Gospel and by the Charism, we seek that hope be translated into concrete gestures, in courageous decisions and collective actions that promote climate justice. With the Vedruna Family and together with the worldwide Religious Life, we wish to contribute to a more just, sustainable and fraternal future for all peoples and for the Common Home.
The UISG-USG campaign invites us, as consecrated life, to join the voices of the Church and the peoples who demand a profound ecological conversion: one that places human dignity, solidarity and justice at the center.
