This expansion was never an objective of Joaquina, who limited herself to respond to the requests that came to her, either to participate or to take charge of various social works (schools, hospitals, charity houses, homes for the elderly…). By the time of her death in 1854, Joaquina had erected more than 30 foundations. In 1855, the Congregation expanded beyond the limits of Catalonia, establishing itself first in Torrelaguna (Madrid), and later in Alcoy (Valencia) and Cadiz. All this generated the need to organize the Congregation in various provinces, until, in 2012, the Vedruna Europe Province was created, integrating also the presences in Italy, Albania and Morocco. Two hundred years after the founding of the Congregation, the weight of history is reflected in the numbers: the Europe Province continues to be the one with the largest number of sisters, Vedruna laity and works, mainly educational and social. <\/p>\n

In the Vedruna Province of Europe there are more than 70 schools. Most of them are grouped in two foundations: the Fundaci\u00f3 Vedruna Catalunya Educaci\u00f3<\/a><\/span> and the Vedruna Education Foundation<\/a><\/span>.
Joaquina’s educational project was born as a response to the poverty and marginalization of her time, especially among women and girls. Today, the Institutional Educational Project updates that mission, making Vedruna schools meeting places where students are formed in human relationships and values such as welcoming, joy and commitment to the most vulnerable. <\/p>\n

La Provincia Europa mantiene viva la versatilidad de las primeras fundaciones Vedruna, respondiendo a diversas necesidades del entorno.
Su

\n<\/span> abarca residencias para menores tutelados, mayores y mujeres, proyectos de desarrollo comunitario y trabajo en barrios con riesgo de exclusi\u00f3n. Destaca la acogida a personas migrantes, con iniciativas como la Casa Vedruna en T\u00e1nger o el proyecto Antonio Felices en Almer\u00eda. Se colabora tambi\u00e9n en salud, en el Hospital Asil de Granollers, y en la promoci\u00f3n de la mujer.
Adem\u00e1s, muchas comunidades Vedruna son casas de puertas abiertas para migrantes derivadas por entidades sociales o eclesiales. En T\u00e1nger, la Casa Vedruna ofrece acogida y protecci\u00f3n temporal a mujeres en tr\u00e1nsito hacia Europa, labor a la que da continuidad en Ceuta la

Formation and accompaniment are distinctive signs of the Vedruna mission, with proposals adapted to the different stages of life. Among the programs are Monte Horeb and B\u00fasqueda for young people, Monte Carmelo for pastoral agents, or El Lago, for religious and lay women and men of different charisms who have passed retirement age.
There is also specific formation for teachers interested in the charism. Key spaces are the Vedruna Center of Valladolid<\/a><\/span>the Youth Pastoral Center in Madrid<\/a><\/span> and the Casa Mare de Vic.
The Ruaj Team, a reference point since 1997, offers personal and spiritual accompaniment, as well as ongoing formation to people of different charisms, promoting an authentic culture of accompaniment. <\/p>\n

The JPIC team seeks to promote an integral ecological spirituality within the Vedruna Family, and at the same time to influence the Church and society. The Vedruna Province of Europe works in a network with various entities and congregations, and is a member of the Laudato Si’ Movement<\/a><\/span>. From its web page<\/a><\/span>JPIC carries out a continuous outreach work, with monthly newsletters aimed at generating formation, reflection and awareness. <\/p>\n
