We reward the work and commitment of this residence so rooted and loved in the town of Puerto Real. Founded by the Congregation of Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna in 1882. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Its beginnings were in the old Hospital de la Misericordia, next to the conventual Church of La Victoria, where they also founded the little school. It was not until 2002 when they moved to a new, more modern and welcoming building on Concepci\u00f3n Street. With magnificent views of the Bay of Cadiz. Thanks to the efforts of the City Council of Puerto Real, the central government and the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda who financed the new project. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n With these new facilities, they were able to increase the number of places to a total of 44 residents and 32 employees, who take care of the elderly residents with tenderness and affection.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Residencia Vedruna for the Elderly are aware of the impact that this decision has on our lives. For this reason, they have spent many years to become a center of choice for families in Puerto Real and our province, and provide peace of mind in this great leap in the life of the elderly. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n It has a good group of volunteers distributed in adults, youth and liturgy, who constantly organize activities at the Center, to make the daily life of its residents more bearable. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Puerto Real, as a caring city, its neighbors, cultural organizations, clubs and brotherhoods, are always aware that nothing is missing for our elders in this Residence Vedruna. A residence that keeps its doors open to all Puerto Real. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n After this intervention, Mamen Ruiz Barrena,<\/strong> current Director of the Residence and belonging to the Vedruna Laity, and the Sr. Carmen Montes<\/strong>of the Community of Puerto Real. In addition, it has been delivered by Juan Luis Boy, elder brother of the Brotherhood of Soledad with the president of the Popular Party Manolo Barco. <\/p>\n\n Mamen Ruiz pronounced these words of thanks: <\/p>\n\n First of all, we would like to thank Carmen Montes and myself for receiving this award, but we were accompanied by our elders, volunteers, friends and staff.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n On behalf of the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity, represented here by some of the sisters, and the Vedruna Laity, we would like to thank the PP group, Vicente for the trust and support he has always given us. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n On this special day, the day of the Flag of Andalusia, making simile, the flag is identity and for us, for our Vedruna Family, identity is the legacy that Joaquina de Vedruna left us. She founded in 1826, we are now in the middle of the Bicentennial. To this historical memory, in which so many sisters and so many people of this town, cities and all over the world, present in the four continents have made possible that the person, as Vicente said, is the center to build a better world. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Our intention, our daily work of the people who work, who accompany, who make this volunteering, is the good of our elders, the good of the elders of Puerto Real, of the whole province that comes in the Dependency Law, that law that gives shelter and survival to so many families who need it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n That historical memory, but historical present that thanks to so many people who make us possible solidarity, work and good service, that Joaquina de Vedruna has an open house here in the city of Puerto Real.
