Attending the Vedruna Laypeople’s Gathering is always a joy. This time, 32 laywomen and laymen set out <\/strong>in the warm northern part of our country, in Sullana, Piura, on June 27, 28, and 29. <\/p>\n\n

Those were days of fellowship, reflection, prayer, listening, laughter, and a shared mission. Seeing so many people walking together, following Jesus\u2014our center\u2014through the charism of Saint Joaquina, reminded us that we are not alone. <\/p>\n\n

Within the context of the Bicentennial, the topics discussed were \u201cNational Reality\u201d and \u201cThe Lay Vocation<\/strong>,\u201d and I am struck by the way in which we, as laypeople, are responding to the situations and demands we face today.<\/p>\n\n

We see that, as followers of Jesus, we must be a source of hope in the midst of difficulties and pain. It is a constant invitation to be born again in order to heal and transform society\u2014a process that begins at home, within the family, at work, among friends, and in everything we come into contact with. “Being Born Again” invites us to keep history in mind, to be part of history by reenacting it and revitalizing our charism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

I have always felt supported by this wonderful family\u2014my Vedruna family\u2014the one that knows no boundaries, the one that looks out for us, the one that counts on us\u2026 Joaquina brings us together.<\/p>\n\n

I\u2019m returning home recharged, full of hope, and eager to continue sowing seeds, grateful to the sisters and laypeople in Sullana for their warm welcome, for making us feel at home, and for all the thoughtful gestures they\u2019ve shown us.<\/p>\n\n
