On August 28 in Sullana, in the Piura department of Peru, the three lay communities\u2014 \u201cWalking with Joaquina<\/strong>,\u201d \u201cSpouses in the Vedruna Style<\/strong>,\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cFollowers of Joaquina\u201d<\/strong>\u2014gathered together with Sisters Melania Silva, In\u00e9s Rojas, and Emiliana Gonz\u00e1lez, from the Sullana community, to commemorate Joaquina\u2019s passing into the Father\u2019s house. <\/p>\n\n

It was a time for prayer and sharing as a community, recalling past experiences\u2014such as the early days of the Laity in Sullana\u2014the various laypeople who had been part of the communities, and those who had gone to the Father\u2019s house.<\/p>\n\n

It was a very pleasant gathering that allowed us to strengthen the bond that unites us as the Vedruna Charismatic Family and to give thanks for the gift of his life and his charism.<\/p>\n\n

Thank you<\/strong> for this remarkable woman, who\u2014in the midst of pain and trials\u2014said \u201cyes\u201d to God<\/strong> and founded a family that continues to serve in every country and on every continent.<\/p>\n\n

Thank you<\/strong> for your motherly heart, for your simple faith, and for teaching us that \u201cwhere there is charity and love, there You are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

May we learn to continue doing good, without regard for whom, discovering God in those most in need\u2014who are our neighbors\u2014and may we look upon them with brotherly love.<\/p>\n\n

May Joaquina continue to strengthen us with a compassionate heart like hers, always ready to serve others, and help us see Christ in those most in need.<\/p>\n\n
