The Santa Rosa School in Constitución, Chile, is a Catholic educational institution serving the families of the Maule region (the residents are so named after the Maule River), committed to living out the Christian values of justice, freedom, fraternity, and faith, in the spirit of Saint Joaquina de Vedruna.

The Educational Community promotes the well-rounded development of its students so that they can thrive in the next stages of their academic journey and reflect, in their daily lives, the distinctive character of the Vedruna educational experience.

In this context, and to mark the bicentennial of the Congregation of the Vedruna Carmelite Sisters of Charity, Santa Rosa School is presenting the historical exhibition at the Constitución Museum “Roots and History: The Journey of the Vedruna Carmelite Sisters and the Santa Rosa School in Constitución”.

This exhibition commemorates 200 years of the Vedruna presence in the world and 93 years since the Congregation’s arrival in Constitución, where it continues to promote the pedagogy of love—whose fundamental principle is the value placed on the individual and on interpersonal relationships— in a family-like, simple, and joyful atmosphere, as an essential educational experience.

Through images and audiovisual material, the exhibition traces six major moments in this history: from the birth of Saint Joaquina de Vedruna in Vic, Spain, and the founding of the Congregation, to the spread of its charism beyond national borders, the development of its educational and healing mission in various parts of the world, and its arrival in the Maule region 93 years ago.

This tour allows visitors to learn about and appreciate the magnitude of the work begun by Saint Joaquina and continued by the communities of sisters around the world—and especially in Constitución. An educational, values-based, and pastoral legacy that continues to bear fruit in the women educated at Santa Rosa School, who, guided by the values they have received, contribute to building a more just, fraternal, and humane society.
