Tribute to Our Lady of Mount Carmel by the San Felipe Vedruna School Educational Community

On July 17, the educational community of Colegio Vedruna, with much affection, paid homage to the Virgin of Carmen, Queen and Patroness of Chile and also of the Congregation.

Leaving from the school chapel in procession, they went to the cathedral (Jubilee Temple) and as the Virgin passed by, they greeted her waving white handkerchiefs and banners prepared by each course.

Recalling the history of Chile and the reasons why she is the Queen and Patroness of the country, with dances, songs, poems and prayers they thanked the Virgin, under the title of Carmen, for her protection. During the celebration, presided by the Luis Felipe Vergara (School Chaplain) imposed the scapular of the Virgin to the 5th grade students who are beginning their preparation for the sacrament of the Eucharist, and the 2nd and 3rd grade students who are beginning their preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation were presented to the community.

The dancers, very typical of the popular spirituality of our people, with colorful costumes and joyful songs gave their art at the feet of the Virgin, honoring her and turning the dance into prayer.

Before concluding, St. Joaquina’s devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and her well-remembered phrase were recalled:

Daughters, I would never tire of telling you about this kind and loving Mother of Carmel. Rejoice and rejoice with such a sweet Mother. Let us serve her with much joy and filial love, which she well deserves; let us go to her in all our troubles and needs both corporal and spiritual, which will always turn out well.
