Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation

Origin

In 1999 a congregational concern was expressed on the issues of Justice and Peace.

“That the General Council organize in the form it deems convenient a permanent instance that sensitizes, orients and stimulates the Congregation along the lines of the option for justice and peace, proposing gestures of solidarity, providing support material, giving information on situations of need, etc.”
(Det Ch. No. 6 CHAPXXIV).

In July 2018, the General Team invited the Intercontinental Justice and Peace Commission to change the infrastructure from an intercontinental commission to an interprovincial structure that would also reflect the congregation’s commitment to the integrity of creation.

Mission

Creation of communication and connection networks that would help us to
and to become aware of the reality and sensitize ourselves to the different situations of
existing injustices.

The positioning and response as ICPC to those unjust situations that need to be denounced and the support and announcement of the construction of the Kingdom at other times.

To keep the attention to reality by taking as a reference
The CIJP Vedruna is committed to the fundamental illumination of the 10 teachings of the Social Doctrine of the Church and responding as CIJP Vedruna to those situations that violate them.

Experiences

Sisters in the Philippines accompany women and children living in cemeteries. Wealthy mausoleum owners agree to allow homeless people/families to live in the mausoleum spaces as long as they keep the area clean and protected.

The sisters bring food and daily living materials to these women and children, in addition to trying to find them more dignified housing, health and education. It is a question of basic needs, a question of equality and justice. Sister Judy Padasas is in the photos sharing rice and fruits.
