International Vedruna Volunteers

Do you want to live a transforming experience?

Join the Vedruna Volunteers International!

Since 2004, the Vedruna Volunteers International is an open door for those who dream of making the world a more just, humane and supportive place.
It was born from the encounter between two desires: that of many people who want to collaborate in solidarity projects, and that of the Vedruna Sisters to welcome those who want to add their commitment.
Today we continue to build networks of hope in America, Asia, Africa and Europe. We are committed to the exchange of knowledge, cultures and experiences, with respect and generosity. Because when we meet from the heart, we all grow.
Are you ready to take the plunge? Your help can make a difference.

What does it take to say “yes” to Vedruna volunteering?

If you are thinking of volunteering, the first thing is that you have the desire to join, share and let yourself be touched by other realities. The rest… we’ll tell you about it here:

The essentials

Because we want you to live this experience to the fullest, these are the basic requirements:

  • Be 24 years of age or older (most of our experiences require personal maturity and autonomy).
  • Minimum availability of 3-4 weeks, ideally in July and/or August (although if you can stay longer, even better!).
  • Good physical and emotional health (you will be able to live, adapt and give of yourself in diverse and sometimes demanding environments).
  • Be properly vaccinated according to your health center’s instructions.
  • Open and committed attitude: (you will meet different people, cultures and ways of life. Listening and respect are key).
  • Participate in the process of training before departure and evaluation upon return (we believe in conscious, prepared and accompanied volunteering).

Desirable

They are not essential, but they add a lot if you have them:

  • To know closely the Vedruna Family.
  • Previous experience in social, educational or volunteer activities.
Interest in issues such as interculturalism, social justice, education or health.
  • Knowledge of languages (English, French, Portuguese…) depending on the destination.
  • Flexibility, creativity and ability to work in a team.

Are you up for it? Then you already have the most important thing.
We accompany you on this path of mutual surrender and transformation!

Where can you add your time, your hands and your heart?

Here you will find the projects in which you can participate as a Vedruna volunteer. They are living spaces, full of commitment, where service and encounter transform both those who receive help and those who give it.
Each project is born from the heart of a community, and responds to concrete realities in America, Africa, Asia and Europe: from education and health, to social accompaniment or the promotion of human rights. You too can be part of this shared mission.
All projects are coordinated by the Vic Foundation.

Please note:
The Vedruna Volunteers International Commission and the communities that host volunteers could modify or cancel a project if circumstances require it (for external reasons or force majeure). But don’t worry: if something changes, we will be at your side to find together the best alternative.

What imprint does volunteering leave on the heart?

In the Vedruna Family, we understand the Mission as a challenge and a shared task, which invites us to broaden our vision and widen our heart. It is a path of mutual dedication, where gift, fraternity, welcoming diversity, respect and reciprocal love become our guide.
The testimonies of those who have already lived this experience are a profound reflection of how the mission transforms us all. They show us that, by working together, we grow in humanity and come closer to the dreams of a more just and fraternal world.
Listen to their voices, which resonate with the values of the Vedruna Volunteers, and perhaps you will feel the call to join this beautiful shared task.

Vedruna Volunteers International News

Vedruna Volunteers is in constant movement, and each step we take together generates new stories, learning and opportunities to continue growing as a family. In this section, we share with you the latest news, projects, events and testimonies that inspire us and connect us more with our shared mission.

How long does volunteering last?

The minimum duration is one month, although many volunteers opt for a longer commitment. The duration depends on the project in which you decide to participate, and we adapt it to your possibilities and the time you can dedicate.

Where are the projects developed?
Our projects are carried out in various countries in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe. Each one responds to local realities, but all share the same spirit of collaboration and transformation. We will assign you a project according to your interests and the needs of the host communities.
Can I choose the country or project I want to participate in?
You can express your preferences, but the final allocation depends on the needs of the projects and communities. We accompany you in the process and look for the best option for you, always with an open heart.
Are there any costs associated with volunteering?
Volunteering is free of charge, but there may be expenses related to travel, accommodation or insurance, depending on the project. Our mission is to support you in everything you need so that your commitment is the most important thing.
Is it necessary to speak a foreign language?
It is not essential, but it is recommended. Some projects require knowledge of English, French or Portuguese, depending on the country and the nature of the work. However, motivation, openness and willingness to learn are what we value most.
What kind of projects are there?
The projects cover diverse areas: education, health, human rights, social accompaniment, community development, among others. All have a focus on integral service and social justice, and will allow you to immerse yourself in different realities while contributing your time and talent.
Do I need to have prior knowledge about the tasks I will be doing as a volunteer?
It is not necessary to have specific training to participate in Vedruna volunteering. The most important thing is your attitude: willingness to learn, availability to collaborate and a heart open to encounter.
That said, everything you know and can contribute – whether in education, health, social accompaniment, languages, artistic or technical skills – will always be welcome and useful to enrich the project and the community where you will be. Each person adds from what he/she is and from what he/she knows.
The essential thing is to go with a spirit of service and with the willingness to let yourself be transformed by the experience.
What happens if a project is modified or cancelled?
The nature of the projects may change for reasons beyond our control, such as force majeure or changes in local needs. If this happens, the Vedruna Volunteers International Commission and the receiving communities will always be in contact with you to offer alternatives and ensure that you can continue to participate in a meaningful mission.
