Tree planting not only strengthens native species and beautifies recreational spaces, but also contributes significantly to improving the quality of life in the communities.
In the Vedruna Lay we have chosen the planting of trees as one of our ways of responding to the urgent call to care for our Mother Earth. With this simple gesture, we collaborate in climate regulation, water conservation and prevention of soil erosion.
On August 30, 2025, we went to Macalian Island, where we planted 20 Narra seedlings along the river bank, in order to prevent erosion during the rainy season. In addition, we planted 15 lanson seedlings, 15 rambutan seedlings and other fruit trees, which in addition to improving air quality will serve as a windbreak and support for families during stormy weather.
We are confident that within 3 to 5 years, the people of Macalian in Buldon, North Maguindanao will be able to enjoy the fruits and benefits of this action shared by the Vedruna Sisters and Lay Vedruna Sisters of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato. A seed of hope for the future.
