The Annual Sports Meet of Don Bosco School, Mintong, held from November 5-7, was a vibrant celebration of culture, unity and sportsmanship.
The event began with a colorful and lively ceremony that highlighted the outstanding talents of the students. The perfectly coordinated parade and impressive drill demonstration received the admiration of the guests and played an important role in fostering teamwork and discipline among the participants.
A distinctive feature of this year’s celebration was a tribute to the rich Wancho tribal culture, among whom we carry out our mission. The students performed elegant cultural dances that reflected the beauty and richness of Wancho traditions. The traditional style tent prepared by the students stood as a proud symbol of their heritage, reminding everyone of the importance of preserving cultural identity while striving for holistic growth.
Throughout the three-day program, the students participated in 46 individual sports events as well as several group games. Their enthusiastic participation turned the meet into a festival of talent and determination. For many young participants, the experience became a meaningful learning journey, confidence building and a joyful discovery of their own abilities.
The school was privileged to welcome Mr. Thangwang Wangham, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Longding-Pumao Constituency, as the Guest of Honor. In his motivational speech, he praised the students for their efforts and encouraged them to always dream bigger and face life’s challenges with courage. Acknowledging the difficulties of growing up in an inland region with limited resources, he urged the young people not to lose hope, but to persevere and build their future with strength and resilience.
The Sports Encounter concluded on November 7 with a grand closing ceremony and awards ceremony, which rewarded the dedication, hard work and sportsmanship of each participant, marking the event as a memorable milestone for the entire school community.
