August 29, 2026, was a remarkable day for our community in Taiwan as we celebrated the Bicentenary of the foundation of our Congregation. Though we are only three Sisters on this island, our preparations spanned over six months to ensure a grand and solemn occasion. We were deeply grateful for the support of six Sisters from Japan, including our Provincial, who arrived a week prior to assist us.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by the Archbishop of Taipei, Most Rev. Thomas An-Zu Chung, and concelebrated by 14 priests representing eight different Congregations.
Over 200 guests—including Catholic faithful, non-Catholics, friends, and Religious Sisters—joined us in prayer and thanksgiving.
Archbishop Thomas Chung read the book on St. Joaquina de Vedruna prior to the event and centered his message on her life and virtues. In a joyful and interactive moment, he had the entire congregation repeat the name of our Congregation multiple times. He emphasized five key pillars of St. Joaquina’s spirituality:
- Love God
- Love family
- Love the weak
- Love education
- Love till the very end
Following Mass, all attendees were invited to share in a festive meal. It looked like the miraculous multiplication of the loaves, the abundance exceeded our expectations—even with a crowd much larger than expected, everyone was well fed, and guests were able to take home the generous leftovers.
The Lord truly blessed us. We pray through the intercession of St. Joaquina de Vedruna that God may continue to bless us, and that we may receive more missionaries in Taiwan to carry on His mission.
