Children first: a day of joy and awareness at Kekeli

World Children’s Day is celebrated every year on November 20 to remember that all children have the right to live in a safe environment, free from violence, exploitation and neglect. It is also a day to raise awareness of the challenges facing children around the world, such as poverty, hunger and lack of access to education.

Joaquina de Vedruna reached out to the most vulnerable people of her time, including children and, in particular, girls. Caring for and protecting children is an essential part of our charism, as these activities of the Vedruna community of Togo at the Kekeli Center demonstrate.

On November 20, on the occasion of International Children’s Rights Day, the Kekeli Center vibrated to the rhythm of the joy and creativity of the little ones.

Other activities were organized to encourage self-expression, solidarity and self-confidence. Among them, a reading contest allowed the children to showcase their talents and reinforce their love of books.

After the activities, all the children enjoyed a convivial meal, a symbol of fraternity and benevolence.

Through these initiatives, Centro Kekeli recalls the importance of protecting, respecting and promoting the rights of all children, offering them spaces where they can learn, develop and dream of a better future.
