From December 28, 2025 to January 1, 2026, the Provincial Assembly of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna in Africa was held in an atmosphere of faith, fraternal communion and community discernment. The delegates from the different communities of the Province participated in the Assembly, constituting a significant moment in the institutional and spiritual life of the Congregation in Africa.
This Assembly is part of the dynamic of creative fidelity to the charism of St. Joaquina de Vedruna and the desire to respond, with lucidity and hope, to the current challenges of the mission, in a spirit of shared responsibility and service.

Conference on community leadership
The work of the Assembly began with a conference on community leadership, which highlighted the need for an evangelical leadership based on service, co-responsibility, listening and discernment. This reflection invited us to promote a participative style of government that favors communion and the responsible commitment of each sister in the common mission.
Echoes of commissions
The various commissions presented the results of their work, offering an in-depth analysis of provincial realities. These reports made it possible to highlight the progress achieved, the persistent challenges and the priorities to be strengthened, proposing concrete orientations for the future.
Presentation of the communities
The presentations of the communities made it possible to share the experiences lived in the missionary field, revealing the richness and diversity of the apostolic commitments of the Province, as well as the constant efforts of the sisters to respond to the educational, health, pastoral and social needs of the people they serve.
Presentation of the provincial team
The Assembly was marked by the presentation of the provincial team, in which the roles, responsibilities and priority axes of its service were specified. This space strengthened transparency, mutual trust and collaboration between the provincial government and the communities as a whole.
Economics and administration
Special attention was given to economic and administrative matters, stressing the importance of rigorous, transparent and supportive management of resources, in fidelity to the guidelines of the Congregation and with a view to guaranteeing the sustainability of the apostolic works.
Reflection on the provincial structure
The Assembly opened a space for reflection and discernment on the provincial structure, taking into account the African context, pastoral realities and future perspectives. This reflection seeks to promote more adequate structures that favor better organization, greater closeness and renewed effectiveness in the service of the mission.
Conclusion
This Provincial Assembly was a strong time of grace and ecclesial responsibility, which strengthened the unity, co-responsibility and missionary commitment of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna in Africa.
Encouraged by the Holy Spirit and faithful to the charism of our Foundress, we reaffirm our availability to continue the educational, health and pastoral mission of the Congregation, at the service of the Church and the peoples of Africa.
