Colegio Mayor Alcalá awards Honorary Scholarship to the Congregation

On Sunday, May 10, the Carmelite Congregation of the Vedruna Charity received the institutional Honor Scholarship awarded by the Colegio Mayor Universitario Alcalá in its Closing Ceremony of the 2025-26 academic year.

This distinction recognizes the contribution of the congregation and the entire Vedruna Family to the education of young people throughout its 200 years of work. In the document of concession of the Scholarship of Honor, they justify this distinction:

We recognize in a special way the living legacy of St. Joaquina de Vedruna, whose founding intuition – “Works, works, works the Lord wills” – continues to impel the Congregation to unite faith and transforming action wherever human dignity demands it.

The Provincial Sister, Maria Gracia Gil, received the recognition and shared some words, highlighting the work in communion that St. Anthony Mary Claret and St. Joaquina, founders of the Claretian and Vedruna families, carried out in their times. Communion that has been maintained until the present time and as a proof of it the team work that our Major Colleges carry out in fraternity course by course.
