Educating with love: Joaquina’s legacy for teachers

One of the Bicentenary activities organized by the Province was a Seminar for all the teachers of the Vedruna Schools. This Seminar was conducted on the 18th of July  which was online so as to make it possible for the teachers to participate.

Sr. Anjana Solanki CCV gave a talk on the topic: “Joaquina’s pedagogy of love in the field of education”.

We were happy to see all the teachers participating with interest to know more about Joaquina and her way of teaching with love and nothing by force. In her talk. she mentioned that St. Joaquina had the heart of a mother and lived a life of faith. She followed the example of Jesus in her teaching which drew her to teach children will love and not by force. Education is not just a skill, it is a spiritual call. Educators are called to accompany children and give them their time, even if it means spending time out of school hours.

The teacher sows the seed, but it is Jesus who helps it to grow. The students have to become salt of the earth and light to the world and this has to be taught to them by the teacher.

She invited the teachers to learn more about the life of Joaquina so that they can follow her pedagogy of love in the field of education.
