Young Friends of Joaquina: A Bicentenary Gathering to Inspire Young Hearts

As part of the Bicentenary celebration, a meaningful and joyful gathering of our girls from the boarding was held in Bhavnagar on the 15th and 16th of August.

The two day gathering provided an opportunity for the students to learn about our Mother Foundress, develop their talents, and experience the spirit of unity and togetherness through learning and fun.

Several activities were conducted, including singing competitions of songs composed by the students themselves on St. Joaquina, interactive sessions, logo preparation, games, and a colourful cultural programme. The students participated enthusiastically and displayed their creativity, talents, teamwork, and confidence.

A special highlight of the celebration was sharing the life and mission of St. Joaquina de Vedruna through a beautiful and creative presentation. The students came to know more about her life, her deep love for God, her concern for the poor and needy, and her dedication to education and service. Her example inspired the students to understand how love, compassion, courage, and selfless service can make a difference in the lives of others. The session on making a choice in life was inspiring and motivational.

The gathering was not only enjoyable but also educational and formative. Through the different activities, the young students were encouraged to appreciate the legacy of St. Joaquina and to carry forward her values in their own lives. The Bicentenary became a joyful occasion of remembering the past, celebrating the present, and inspiring the young for the future.

With this gathering, we pray that the tiny seed of vocation is planted in the heart of the young girls and someday down their life they may experience the call to be a Vedruna.
