From October 16 to 18, the Sanjuanist Teresian International Center in Ávila hosted the course“Love That Never Says Enough, ” , dedicated to exploring the relationship between literature, spiritual experience, and the search for transcendence. The gathering set aside a special place for Saint Joaquina de Vedruna, whose correspondence inspired the course’s title.

Sister Rosa Ortí, ccv, gave a presentation on the life, correspondence, and spirituality of our founder. Through her letters, she explored the presence of the Carmelite tradition in her experience of faith, the dialogue between her spiritual legacy and that of Saint Teresa of Jesus, and the centrality of the Holy Trinity in her relationship with God.
You can read the full text of his presentation on the Vedruna Europa Province website:
The presentation also drew parallels between the spiritual experiences of Saint Joaquina and Amalia Martín de la Escalera, co-founder of the Apostolic Sisters of Christ Crucified, through their respective writings.
The course is part of the “World Literature and Treasures of Carmel” program, which seeks to explore the spiritual and literary richness of Carmel and its dialogue with other works and cultural expressions. This initiative takes on special significance as it coincides with the bicentennial of the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity of Vedruna and with the San Juanist Jubilee Year.
To explore this experience further, the website of the Vedruna Province of Europe features an interview with Javier Marín, the course director, in which he highlights the importance of the epistolary genre in mysticism.
