Joaquina’s legacy is present among us, through the pedagogy of love.
During the month of April we participated in various activities as part of our mission at the Vedruna Assistance Center. The first experience was a reading day in the park of the Center itself, open to the participation of our children, adolescents, their families and the community in general.
Every year, the Center offers this space to the community. This year, the activity took place on April 12, with the theme of the book “The Little Prince”. The setting was prepared with great affection by the work team and our students, creating a cozy environment, special for the moment. Numerous books were offered that participants could read, take home or give as gifts to other interested people. There was also a space for face painting, among other attractions, and we shared delicious refreshments.
We celebrate the power of words! We gather to share stories, ideas and the magic of reading – every page we turn is a new adventure!
During these days so significant for our Christian faith, with the celebration of the Easter of our Lord, we had special moments with the children and adolescents. Together with Sister Lena, the novice Angie and the accompaniment of the educators, we participated in a celebration in which the children and adolescents drew the signs of hope of the Risen Lord present in their environment. As a concrete gesture, they sowed sunflower seeds, which since then are cared for and accompanied daily in their growth.
Through these actions, they learn that, “Nature responds with joy when we take loving care of it!”
