In the Vedruna Province of Africa, the feast of St. Joaquina de Vedruna, celebrated on May 22, had a special touch in this 2026, being the year of the Bicentenary of the Congregation she founded.
Añisok, Equatorial Guinea
We share the moment of joy that we have lived for three days on the occasion of the celebration of the feast of St. Joaquina, our mother.
In the community, we enjoyed the spiritual preparation through a novena for St. Joaquina. In addition, at the Vedruna School in Añisok, different activities were organized during three days: games, poetry, theater, dances and soccer.
We ended with a thanksgiving mass sung by Vedruna students, especially those approaching the end of their school years, who shared an emotional farewell speech to the school.
After mass, we ended the day sharing a table: a meal in a good atmosphere. It was a great joy for the Añisok community to share this moment with Sisters Maguy Mbima, provincial, and Lucia Mbala, provincial administrator, who are visiting our community.
May St. Joaquina continue to intercede for us, and may joy always be our main virtue, seeking finally to preserve and live the Vedruna charism.
Lomé, Togo
On the day of Pentecost, a day of grace and fraternal communion, the community of Lomé had the joy of celebrating the Bicentenary of the Vedruna Congregation in an atmosphere of fervor, thanksgiving and hope. Two hundred years of history, faith and fidelity that testify to the work of God throughout the generations.
This celebration reminds us that the Holy Spirit continues to act within our communities, renewing our strength, strengthening our mission and rekindling the flame of fraternal charity. Like the apostles on the day of Pentecost, we are called to be living witnesses of love, peace and unity.
May this Bicentennial be not only a moment of remembrance, but also a new impetus to move confidently into the future, in fidelity to our vocation and service to others. Let us give thanks for all the sisters who have generously consecrated their lives and pray that future generations will continue this beautiful mission with faith and courage.
May the Holy Spirit descend abundantly upon each one of us.
