Communiqué of the Congregation in Peru in response to the situation of injustice and violence

As Carmelites of the Vedruna Charity we express our deep concern about the crisis that Peru is going through.

We express our great concern about the current situation of injustice, corruption and violence that the country is going through. Through this public statement, we denounce the impunity, the loss of ethical values and the deterioration of social coexistence that seriously affect the life and dignity of our people.

From our faith in the God of Life, we reject all forms of violence, especially that which hits women, children and the most vulnerable people the hardest. We demand transparency and accountability from the authorities, and invite citizens to keep hope alive, promoting a culture of peace, justice and mutual respect.

We reaffirm our commitment to walk alongside the most affected communities, accompanying their struggles and promoting spaces for dialogue, reconciliation and social transformation.
