In the Vedruna community of Puerto Rico, on September 21, the day of the tree, we celebrate, in a very special way, the “Time of Creation”. We unite our fragility to that of Mother Earth and of so many sisters and brothers.
Welcoming the invitation of Pope Francis and the Congregation that challenges us to renew our relationship with the Creator and all of creation through celebration, conversion and commitment together, we received each little plant and with it in our hands, we signed our commitment to pray for those who are risking their lives to defend the planet. Also, we join our sisters and brothers of the Vedruna Family in prayer and action for our common home.
We prayed with the theme of the Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, which this year is “Hope and Act with Creation”, referring to the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans 8:19-25, where the Apostle clarifies what it means to live according to the Spirit and focuses on the certain hope of salvation through faith, which is new life in Christ. With the prayer of St. Francis we had present each one of the species that with their differences, smallness and fragility embellish and enrich the whole.
We ended the prayerful moment, each one with the commitment to take care of our plant, which is the symbol of our commitment to renew our relationship with the Creator and all of creation.
