Health Day: 200 years of commitment to wellness

From February 23 to 25 we joyfully celebrated the Bicentennial of our Congregation, following the legacy of Joaquina de Vedruna, who dedicated her life to the health care of the most needy. In her honor, we held our traditional Annual Health Day, providing comprehensive care to our entire educational community of Colegio El Carmelo, Caracas, Venezuela.

Visual care for all

Optica Contreras joined us with the optometry day, reminding us that our vision is vital for learning and development. They offered to the community frames at charity prices.

Education for prevention and life

The Ministry of Health, through the ASIC Los Cedros Specialized Center, accompanied our day with educational talks adapted to each level:

  • Initial Education: Personal hygiene, with emphasis on proper hand washing.
  • Primary Education: Transmission of vector-borne diseases, with special emphasis on dengue fever transmitted by the Aedes aegypti (white-footed) mosquito.
  • General Secondary Education: a series of orientation talks that addressed three main topics: the construction of a meaningful life project, the exercise of responsible sexuality and the prevention of intoxication, providing them with tools for making conscious decisions.

Integral Wellness

During the break, the mothers of the “Sonrisalud” program offered medicinal infusions that help the stomach and nourish the soul with their human warmth.

Healthy Smiles

Students from the School of Dentistry of the UCV conducted educational talks and fluoride application, sowing oral care habits in our students.

Protection and Prevention

We have a vaccination day for the whole community and laboratory exams at solidarity prices, thanks to Policlinica de Coche.

Preventive Checkups

Farmatodo, a nationwide pharmacy network in Venezuela, through its program “Cuidamos tu salud” (We take care of your health), attended to the adults of our community with evaluations of: Height and weight, blood pressure and Capillary Glycemia.

Three days of service, three days of community, three days celebrating 200 years of giving. Thanks to all the allies who made this journey possible. Let’s continue building health and hope together.
