A simple, profound and familiar encounter that renews hope and strengthens the shared mission.
The Vedruna Family in Fond Parisien, Haiti, gathered once again to reflect and celebrate our shared life. In the light of the letter of St. Joaquina de Vedruna of December 23, 1844, we wanted to rekindle the fire of love, renew the strength of our mission and let ourselves be inspired by that generous love that began in Vic and continues today in our Haitian reality.
The meeting took place in two moments of deep interiority. In the first, we shared with simplicity our fatigue, discouragement and also those experiences in which we felt the visit of the Good Jesus throughout this year. In a second moment, with the symbol of a lighted candle and remembering the words of Joaquina -Ifour heart were lit…-,we surrendered our fatigues, wounds and limits, asking the Lord for a heart on fire with love.
After a time of personal silence and shared group work, we concluded with a simple and eloquent gesture: a hand on the shoulder of the person next to us as we prayed together:
Lord, make us one heart to serve your people.
May the generous love of St. Joaquina continue to burn in us.
May our mission inspire, sustain and comfort.
Bless Haiti, our centers and our families.
Like Joaquina, we want to walk in the light of your love. Amen.
The meeting culminated with a fraternal sharing (Agape) and the delivery of a food ration, gratefully received as a Christmas gift from the sisters.
