From April 11-16, the sisters of the two communities of Argentina, Leonor Maturana and Merlo, and a sister from Montevideo, gathered to share the annual retreats. Daniela Cannavina, Capuchin sister of Mother Rubato, accompanied us with the theme “To be born again”, taking different aspects of the life of Jesus from the Gospel and our Chapter document. Each day we reflected on different texts.
This retreat led us to go deeper and ask ourselves:
- Where does life emerge and what are the cracks through which life leaves?
- What are my nights and what are the names of the “stars” that illuminate my night?
- What new wine do I need at this stage of my life to keep the party going as at Cana?
I would like to end with a part of “Betania” by Florentino Ulibarri:
“Betania, a place of passage and rest. Of friends and encounters, of deep and sincere dialogues, of evenings until the wee hours of the morning…”.
“Bethany: the friendship that hosts God, the love that is poured out without measure, the life that rises again because it is called by His name.”
May the God of Life continue to enlighten us and Joaquina accompany us on this journey of being Born Again from the Life of Jesus and the Vedruna Charism.
On April 16, the 243rd anniversary of the birth of Joaquina, we celebrated in the afternoon sharing our faith and life and closed the celebration with the Eucharist. A beautiful end that the Lord gave us, a rainbow reminding us of the Love of God manifested in the beauty of creation.
