Vedruna International Volunteering: A Full Heart and a Transformed Perspective

Meeting to Evaluate the Experiences of 2026

An evaluation meeting for the Vedruna International Volunteer Program took place in Madrid one weekend in October.

It was an exciting and revitalizing gathering—a pause along the way to stop and catch our breath amid the frenetic pace of daily life. It was a time to reflect once more on the Vedruna experience that we volunteers have lived this year in two locations across Africa—Tomé (Togo) and Libreville (Gabon)—and to become aware of just how much it has meant to us.

With gratitude, we have looked back on those early days of uncertainty in the face of the unknown, accompanied by excitement and a desire to discover a new reality. We’ve also cherished the moments of camaraderie with our sisters, the smiles and lessons learned alongside the girls and boys at our respective centers, as well as our encounters with the local community. These experiences and small gestures have left a lasting impression on us, and today we look back on them with fresh eyes, enriched by the passage of time.

We have shared our experiences with the Commission, putting our experiences into words and trying to express even those things that remain in our hearts and are difficult to describe. This gathering has allowed us to recognize the lessons learned, the bonds formed, and the lasting impressions we’ve brought back from Africa, but also to understand that volunteering doesn’t end when we return home: it lives on in the way we see the world, relate to others, and engage with them.

What if you were the one to have that next experience?

Every volunteer experience opens up new avenues for connection, learning, and commitment. That is why Vedruna International Volunteering is now accepting applications for 2027, inviting those who are eager to learn about other ways of life, share their lives with others, and put their skills to work for the benefit of others to explore this opportunity.

If you’d like to experience intercultural exchange and solidarity through the Vedruna charism, now may be the time to take the first step.

On the Vedruna International Volunteering website, you’ll find all the information about the requirements for participation, the dates, and the stages of the process, as well as the projects you can get involved in.
