On October 28 there was joy, familiarity and much gratitude in the Colegio Mayor Vedruna of Madrid. This has been the house that has welcomed representatives of the different Vedruna presences of Madrid to begin the celebration of the Bicentenary of the Foundation of the Carmelite Congregation of the Vedruna Charity.
Schoolgirls, the Senior Team, Sisters from various communities, young people from the Vedruna Youth Pastoral Center (CPJV) and friends gathered to celebrate the Eucharist and give thanks to God for the life of St. Joaquina and her model of holiness, which has inspired 200 years of a work that has made possible the reception, education and healing of so many people.
The Opening Ceremony, with the category of Academic Act, has been adorned with the collegiate scholarship carried by older schoolgirls, the Educational Team and the former schoolgirls of the Mayor. We were honored with his presence D. Alejandro Cremades, president of the Association of Colleges of Madrid.
Ms. Maria Gracia Gil, ccv. Provincial of Europe, gave a talk to the attendees taking the voice of St. Joaquina and encouraging to entrust the values of diligence, strength and humility today. We enjoyed the dance entitled “200 years of dedicated lives”, through which we inaugurated this year of bicentennial celebration. Finally, we closed with a live musical interpretation of the hymn “Woman of the trusting yes”.
Words, dance and music were the vehicles to celebrate the Vedruna Family, in community and communion.
