A Poem to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of St. Joaquina

The Health workers of Nana Kantharia composed a Commemorative Poem based on the life of St. Joaquina.

The poetic verses echoes, reflecting and colouring the heroic virtues that defined the early Journey of St. Joaquina. The journey defined by a profound childhood desiring to join a Religious Congregation, which was temporarily paused to fulfil an obedient call to married life and motherhood.

The legacy of faith service and unwavering love established by St. Joaquina in 1826, February 26th, continues spreading today in many countries and cultures. The seeds of virtues which St. Joaquina planted in Spain have blossomed into a big tree of refuge for the poor and needy of Gujarat and other states.

According to the needs of the time, she concentrated on education, care of the sick, empowerment of women… The spiritual fire of her years as a mother enriched her capacity to later lead a global spiritual life, that the arrival of the pioneer sisters at Bhavnagar under the guidance of Fr. Palavo in 1953, marked a historic milestone in the expansion of the Vedruna Sisters in India.

Today her holy and heroic life melodies beautifully reminding us her compassion and love of wanting to remedy the needs of the whole world.
