Bicentennial in the Province of Africa

Target

In the Vedruna Province of Africa, we want to celebrate the Vedruna Bicentenary by promoting the knowledge of the life and legacy of St. Joaquina Vedruna, strengthening the faith and charismatic identity in the educational and Christian community, and promoting spaces of encounter, gratitude, formation and solidarity commitment that project the Vedruna charism into the future.

Events of the Bicentennial of the Province of Africa

January 2026: Reflection, Dialogue and Sports
  • January 7 and 8: Meeting with the parish group St. John Paul II and St. Raphael, D. R. Congo
  • January 10: Soccer match, students vs. teachers, D. R. Congo
  • January 13: Conference “The role of women in the home and in the Church”, D. R. Congo
  • January 22: meeting with pregnant women, D. R. Congo
  • January 31: round table “The Vedruna mission today”, Togo
February 2026: missionary month and novena
  • February 1 to 9: Preparatory novena: daily prayer in common, in all countries
  • February 2: Contemplative prayer and Eucharistic adoration, Kimwenza, D. R. Congo
  • February 3: lecture “Responsibility”, R. D. Congo
  • February 7: visit to the sick and local volunteers. D. R. Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea
  • February 10, participation in the radio-television Maria, D. R. Congo
  • February 13: School for parents, “Saint Joaquina as a mother of a family”, Vedruna School of Bata, Equatorial Guinea.
  • February 28: Solemn Mass for the opening of the Bicentennial and open day, D. R. Congo
  • February 28: community day and big party, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea
March 2026: spiritual and cultural closure
  • March 1: Mass of thanksgiving, St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Togo
  • March 1: pilgrimage to a Marian or Carmelite shrine, depending on the country. Prayer vigil and Eucharistic adoration.
  • March 1: Choral concerts and intercultural evenings

  • July 2026: Holiday camp with young people, communities of Kinshasa, D. R. Congo

  • September 2026: Conference “Vedruna Presence in Africa and announcement of the 70th anniversary”.
  • February 26, 2027: Solemn Mass for the 70th anniversary and final closure of the Bicentennial
