Celebration in VedrunAmerica-Brazil: with joy and hope Karem says “Yes” to the Call of Jesus

On July 9, inspired by the reading from Jeremiah: “Before I formed you in the womb, I chose you; before you were born, I consecrated you” (Jer 1:4-5), Karem Jaramillo, a young Colombian, began her novitiate in the formation community of Vedrun-America, located in Brazil.

In a simple and profound Eucharistic celebration, Karem expressed her“YES” to this new stage of her formation, with the desire to faithfully follow the way of Jesus in the Vedruna family. She used the image of being held by God, who calls her and takes her in his hands, symbolizing her vocational process with this provident God, in whom she can always trust and who accompanies her both in moments of joy and difficulty.

On this day of thanksgiving, we also celebrate the 30 years of religious life of Sr. Marilei, who presented the“tucum” ring (symbol of commitment to the poor) as a representation of his years of consecration and his commitment to the most vulnerable, especially in his mission with the youth. The image of Jesus on the Cross has been for her, from the beginning of her vocation, a call to follow and serve the little ones at every moment of history.

Present for this celebration were Srs. Alicia Zanichelli, provincial, Clara Schlickmann, country delegate, and our friends Fr. Ronaldo Silva and Gilmara Restani. After the celebration, we shared a delicious dinner.
