Charismatic Family of Vedrun-America, towards the Bicentenary of the Congregation

On Sunday, February 23, more than 200 people belonging to the Charismatic Family of Vedrun-America met online to unite as a family in prayer, thanking God for the gift of the Vedruna Charism that He sowed in our hearts.

The invitation was for the entire Charismatic Family: sisters, associated laity, youth, educators, former students and other groups, from the 13 countries where we have Vedruna presence in America: Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, United States, Colombia, Bolivia, Cuba and Haiti.

Joyfully, as we entered the platform, through the screen we were recognizing each other, greeting each other, and worrying about each other.

After the opening by the Provincial Team, the prayer was guided by the Charismatic Family Team that, through Maria Cecilia Torres of the Vedruna Laity, with great creativity, led us into this moment of prayer, giving space for everyone, sisters, laity, youth, educators… according to the date of arrival of the Vedruna Charism in each country.

There were moments of silence, of sharing, of singing, of giving thanks for so many gifts received, and also of praying that there may continue to be people willing to continue rooting and grounding the charism in every place where we are or have been present.

The closing was left to the team formed to organize and energize the activities of the Bicentenary in the province. An outpouring of life and hope flooded us, discovering how the Charism is still alive and spreading after 200 years filled us with joy.

Sr. Yulian TorresThe coordinator of this team, after explaining the team’s objectives, gave us some guidelines on the path to follow during these two years of celebration, from February 2025 to February 2027. It is two years because there is a lot of life to energize, share, celebrate and transmit to the new generations.

He shared with us the motto with which we will celebrate this Bicentennial, which is “Generous love, inspiring mission”. He also explained the content and meaning of each element that makes up the logo (heart, plant bud, star and dove), the meaning of the colors used (red, green, blue and orange) and how in America we are going to work it. In the year 2025 we will focus on the first part of the motto: “Generous love, …”; while in the year 2026, we will deepen in the second part “…mission that inspires”.

From this moment on, the year of the Bicentenary of the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna in the world is inaugurated, and we are encouraged to live it with strength, energy and above all, with much love and dedication.
