On the occasion of the anniversary of the feast of the canonization of St. Joaquina de Vedruna, our communities in Equatorial Guinea, specifically in Bata and Añisok, experienced a period of grace and spiritual fervor, marked by various religious, educational and festive activities.

The celebrations began with a preparatory novena, organized in the community from May 14 to 22. Each day, members of the community gathered to pray, meditate and reflect on the virtues of St. Joaquina: faith, charity, simplicity and self-denial.
May 22, the feast of the canonization, was the highlight of our celebration. A solemn Mass was celebrated in thanksgiving for the gift of St. Joaquina to the Church and to the educational family of the Carmelites of Charity. The Eucharist, lively and participatory, was led by the students, with songs, readings and prayer intentions specially prepared for the occasion.
After Mass, we continued with various educational and festive activities:
- Theatrical representations on the life of Saint Joaquina.
- Traditional dances and songs in his honor.
- A poetry and drawing contest inspired by their values.
It was an opportunity for students and teachers to share what St. Joaquina means to them today.
We ended this beautiful day with a community prayer, asking God to continue to bless our educational mission and to make each one of us grow in the spirit of service and love transmitted by our holy foundress.
This celebration was a powerful moment of faith, unity and commitment. St. Joaquina continues to be for us a living model of holiness, compassion and dedication to the most vulnerable.
