The Vedruna Province of Africa as a whole, and in particular the Bata Community in Equatorial Guinea, we are happy to share this news: we have had the graduation of the first promotion of the sixth grade for ESB at the Kisito Vedruna College .
We rejoice because it has been a great challenge that has not been easy to face, but the grace of God has been on our side. Those who know the history of our Kisito Vedruna School in Bata will know that there has never been the primary level, only a few years that our sisters who had here started with the first grade of primary school and then stopped. After that, only the pre-school level continued, so that every time our students finished here, they had to enroll in another school and this cut short the formation process of many children.
When we arrived in 2019, we realized that training children and leaving them later on the way did not help. Listening also to the complaints of the parents, how they suffered from having to enroll their children in other schools that already had their preschools, we saw it important to raise a project to increase the primary level, which we proposed to the General and Provincial Teams during the assembly we had in Gabon in 2022. They allowed us to begin, although we soon encountered many difficulties and sacrifices. For example, as there were not enough classrooms, we accepted to have two shifts, morning and afternoon, to use also the pre-school classrooms until today.
We want to point out that, although we are operating with so many difficulties, we are moving forward: we are carrying out this project with great determination, and with the hope that God will always help so that this will continue to bear fruit in abundance. Thus, as we introduced it, the first primary school graduating class left this year to start secondary school in another Catholic school. We have sent some to the Sallano school, some to Escolapio and others to the schools of their parents’ choice.
In conclusion, we thank the teams who have given us this opportunity so that we can continue to give joy in our places of mission, and because this Vedruna school here in Bata is a success for the province and the population.
