Protecting children, everyone’s responsibility

From October 23 to 24, 2025, the Kekeli Center organized a sensitization session for community leaders in Batumé, Togo. This initiative is part of the Center’s mission to defend children’s rights and fight against sexual violence against children.

Sisters Maguy Bwandala and Lucie Anne Mulata participated in this meeting, and their presence reinforced the message conveyed by the Center: child protection is a collective responsibility, involving leaders, religious figures and social actors.

The Center’s team addressed a number of key issues:

  • Provide information on the forms of sexual violence and their impact.
  • Encourage community vigilance and reporting of abuses.
  • Promote a culture of respect and listening
  • strengthening the links between communities and protection structures.

The discussions were particularly enriching. All participants expressed a strong desire to become fully involved in the fight against violence against children. This mobilization promises to lead to the emergence of real agents of change within local communities.
