Recognition of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School of Buenos Aires as a “Green School”.

On November 19, 2024, Nuestra Señora del Sagrado Corazón School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, represented by its environmental representatives and directors, received the recognition that identifies it as a green school. The event was held at the San Martin Theater, where teachers and directors of several schools were recognized and filled the Casacuberta Hall to share a day of celebration to the journey, dedication and efforts made by the educational institutions throughout the school year, promoting environmental awareness, sustainable habits and the preservation of our planet.

This recognition was created with the aim of strengthening the commitment of schools to environmental education and management. It is a distinction granted by the Green Schools Program of the Ministry of Education of the City Government to schools that develop strategies, activities and experiences that contribute to the challenge of building a more environmentally responsible citizenship, and is based on a voluntary scheme based on self-management in the incorporation of contents, practices and pedagogical strategies that promote environmental education.

Within the framework of the “Green School” project, the institution took its first steps in the development of a community environmental commitment, which involved students, teachers and directors of the three levels.

This long-range joint work aims to inspire the entire community to be part of the change that our world needs. It seeks to promote active participation and learning through transformative action, aware of the importance of their actions for their present life, and in solidarity with the life of future generations of all species on our planet.
