At the Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Valencia, we have officially opened the events celebrating the Bicentenary of the Congregation.
To begin the day we lived a very special moment in our school when we unveiled a commemorative plaque that recalls the 200 years of history, faith and dedication to others of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna.
As it could not be otherwise, we were accompanied by our dear sisters and also by the 3 year old students, the youngest of the house, symbol of future and hope. It was a simple act but full of meaning, which invites us to continue walking together in the style of Joaquina de Vedruna, with love, dedication and trust in God.
Later, in the middle of the morning, the whole school made a parade accompanied by a batucada around our school which ended with the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to the Virgen de los Desamparados, our patron saint, in the Basilica of the Virgin.
In the afternoon we celebrated, in the Alfons el Magnànim hall of the Centre de la Beneficència, the institutional act of the beginning of the bicentenary with the presence of María Gracia Gil of the provincial team of Europe of the Congregation and David de Frutos, coordinator of the schools of the Vedruna Education Foundation, along with other authorities. The event was enlivened by the students of the Vedruna Reading Club.
And to conclude the day, we celebrated the traditional welcome dinner for families, faculty and administrative and service staff on the school terrace.
In short, it was a special day to renew the Vedruna spirit that the sisters have bequeathed to us and that unites us as a community.
