Trujillo hosted the Vedruna Intercollegiate Meeting of Extremadura on February 26th.

On February 26, 2025, the city of Trujillo hosted the Vedruna Intercollegiate Meeting of Extremadura, an event that brought together more than 1,000 students between the ages of 3 and 18 for a day of coexistence with a dual purpose:

  • Celebrate the bicentennial of the founding of the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna.
  • Commemorate Extremadura Week at School, an initiative promoted by the General Secretariat of Education.

The meeting was attended by the two Vedruna schools of Extremadura, as well as the mayoress of Trujillo and members of the municipal government team.

The main event took place in the emblematic Plaza Mayor of Trujillo, where homage was paid to the Vedruna schools of the region and a special activity was carried out with a nod to the Chiviri festivity. The day culminated with the joint interpretation of the Hymn of Extremadura and the emblematic hymn of the Carmelites, “You know that today we need people like you”.

After the main ceremony, the students participated in various activities organized according to their age.

With this meeting, the Vedruna Schools of Extremadura reinforce their commitment to education in values, knowledge of history and regional identity, promoting coexistence and student participation in enriching cultural experiences.
