Vacances utiles: an initiative for children

Under the theme “All for the promotion of children’s rights and well-being“, the 2ᵉ edition of Vacances Utiles à Légbassito Madzikpéto, organized by the Centre Kekeli from April 4 to 11, brought together local players and volunteer animators around a common objective: to better support children during the vacations.

This training session enabled the supervisors to be equipped on essential themes such as the legal framework for child protection, gender-based violence (in particular sexual abuse), adolescent management, sexual and reproductive health, as well as facilitation techniques and report writing. These modules have strengthened their ability to effectively supervise and protect children.

At the end of the training course, the animators put what they had learned into practice with over 250 children aged 8 to 17. Each afternoon, they took part in fun and educational activities, including games, interactive exchanges and practical workshops (knitting, beading, drawing), encouraging creativity and the development of their talents.

With some thirty adults trained, this initiative has proved to be a real success. It illustrates the commitment of the Kekeli Center and the community to providing children with a safe, educational and nurturing environment, thus helping to build a responsible and aware generation.
