Vacation Camp for Girls

On the 14th and 15th of April, the Mintong community organized a two-day vacation camp for girls from Class 8 and above. This initiative was aimed at girls with an inclination toward religious life. A total of 28 girls participated enthusiastically, coming not only from our hostel but also from surrounding villages, including those studying in government schools.

The atmosphere throughout the camp was lively, joyful, and participative. The two days were filled with enriching sessions, beginning with an inspiring presentation on the life of St. Joaquina and a sharing of vocation stories by the sisters of the community. This was followed by a motivational talk on religious life delivered by Fr. George Wangsu SDB, a native of Mintong Village, Sr. Nyalai CCV, and Fr. Luke from Khasa Village. Their real-life examples offered encouragement and inspiration to the young participants.

Adding further spiritual depth, the Parish Priest of Mintong, Fr. Rini James SDB, shared profound insights on religious life as a meaningful and fulfilling life option in the modern world. His message helped the girls appreciate the beauty and purpose of following Jesus. Beyond these input sessions, they also had group sharing and activities. These moments gave the girls an opportunity to express their thoughts and questions in a homely environment.

The camp concluded with a sincere evaluation, where the participants shared their joy and gratitude. Many expressed that this was their first time attending such a program and were especially touched by learning about the life of St. Joaquina and expressed appreciation for the efforts put in for this occasion.

This camp served as a window into the life and charism of St. Joaquina, lighting a gentle spark of vocational awareness in the hearts of the girls. While they are still in their school years, we recognize that there is still a long way to go in nurturing spark of vacation.
