From July 23 to 26, the sisters from the Caribbean communities in Cuba, Jimaní/Haiti, and the Dominican Republic gathered in Guayacanes, Dominican Republic, for a new meeting of the Sisters of the Caribbean—a time of prayer, discernment, and fraternal communion—as part of the Bicentennial celebration and the discernment process that the Province and Congregation have been undertaking.
The gathering began with a prayer invoking the Holy Spirit, in keeping with the path of the Bicentennial and discernment that we are currently following in our Congregation. Over the following days, each community shared in a spirit of fraternity the life and mission it carries out in its respective countries; together we evaluated the resolutions from the previous assembly in 2024 and deepened the provincial discernment process, both in small groups and in the plenary session.
Prayer played a central role in each day’s program, led in rotation by the various communities, along with moments of gratitude and thanksgiving for the experiences shared. The gathering also included opportunities for fraternal fellowship and rest.
On the last day, we participated in the Eucharist at the local parish as a sign of communion, reaffirming the path that the VedrunAmérica Province has been following: a community that discerns together, grateful for its history, and looking to the future with hope.
A gathering that, day by day, wove together memory, gratitude, and hope among the communities of the Caribbean, sustained by the prayer that inspired their journey.
