Young people, a sign of hope, strength and motivation in rural missionary activity

In a spirit of faith, sharing and hope, on May 25, the Youth Meeting was held with great joy in the Rural Communities of the Pastoral Area of the Divine Holy Spirit, in the city of Salgueiro, in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, with the theme “Young Pilgrims of Hope”.

The event was promoted by the Youth Ministry and Catechesis, bringing together young people from various communities in a day of deep spirituality, formation and fraternal coexistence. The chosen location contributed to create a fraternal and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.

The theme counseling was carried out, with wisdom and enthusiasm, by the Vedruna Sisters, the Vedruna laity and the Vedruna Youth Mission of Brazil, who shared with the young people significant reflections on mission, faith and Christian commitment in the youth journey as a sign of living hope for the world.

Young people from the communities of Paula, Mulungu, Poço da Pedra, Conceição das Crioulas, Garrote Morto, Asentamiento José Luiz, Angico dos Lúcios, Pedra Preta and Ipueira were present, as well as the Confirmation groups of Salgueiro and representatives of the Youth Pastoral. This diversity gave the meeting a tone of unity and cultural richness, strengthening the bonds between the different rural communities of our pastoral area .

During the meeting, there were also presentations by the groups, in which the young people were able to express the diverse realities in which they are inserted, showing with creativity and sensitivity the challenges and hopes that mark their daily lives in the communities.

One of the most impressive moments was the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament where the young people were able to experience the living presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, in an atmosphere of profound silence, prayer and surrender.

The meeting concluded with a moment of prayer and missionary sending forth, led by Zanadja Lima, our youth advisor of the São Marcos Area of the Diocese who, with words of encouragement and faith, motivated the young people to remain firm in the mission of being pilgrims of hope, bringing light and Christian witness to their communities.

It was a blessed day, full of God’s grace, marked by the living presence of the Holy Spirit who encourages, guides and strengthens the youth in their mission to build a more just, fraternal and hope-filled world.
