El Carmelo School was buzzing with excitement this Wednesday, October 14, with the delightful Visit by Sisters María Irizar, of the General Team, and Alicia Zanichelli, Provincial of VedrunAmérica.
First thing in the morning, we welcomed them. They were accompanied by Sisters Carmen Alicia Figuera, Delegate for Venezuela; Yulian Reyes, Treasurer for Venezuela; and Giclis Santamaria, Esq., director of our institution. As we do at the start of every school day, we sang the National Anthem and our school anthem, but this time, the occasion was truly special.
Our students welcomed them with great joy and affection, treating them to songs, dances, and demonstrations of their talents in soccer, volleyball, karate, and dance. It was a special reception, and the sisters were deeply touched by such a warm welcome.
Next, they were escorted on a tour of the classrooms, where they interacted with the students, who had prepared poems, songs, and dances for them—and even flowers—as a sign of the joy that welled up from their hearts.
They also visited the academic and administrative offices, concluding with a meeting with all the teaching, administrative, and support staff. The sisters wanted to know how we were feeling and to offer us words of encouragement to continue living out our Vedruna charism.
They left happy, impressed by how beautiful our school is and by the good manners and courtesy of our students. Seeing how the Vedruna charism is lived out day by day at our school was deeply rewarding for them.
A day that will undoubtedly remain etched in our hearts. You are always welcome, sisters!
