Catechesis as a path of interior transformation

From May 19 to July 9, 2025, Aspirant Marjorie Flores had the opportunity to participate in the “Comprehensive Catechetical Formation” program of ICAM (Institute of Catechism of the Archdiocese of Manila). It was a deeply enriching experience that not only offered tools for sharing the faith, but also helped to rediscover how catechesis transforms interiorly those who live it. We share her grateful testimony of these two months of formation and intercultural encounter.

I am extremely grateful to God, to the delegation team for the opportunity to be able to study a “Comprehensive Catechetical Formation” at the ICAM-Institute of Catechism of the Archdiocese of Manila last May 19 to July 9, 2025.

My two-month experience in ICAM has been profoundly enriching. It made me understand that “catechism” goes beyond learning how to share the faith with others, but it is also about allowing the faith to transform oneself first to evangelize others. Indeed, catechism can be challenging as it involves navigating the traditional practices and experiences, particularly in this 21st century.  Besides, preparing a lesson plan has helped me discover my interest in teaching a catechism class. I am very happy with the whole experience, being with my classmates from different nationalities and cultures.
