God alone is enough: celebrating the Feast of St. Teresa of Ávila

Last October 15, 2025 we celebrated the Feast of St. Teresa de Avila, patron of our Congregation. We had the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Dionesio Balute, OCD in the Delegation House Chapel. This was the first time that we celebrated this Feast in the Delegation.

Fr. Balute, in his Homily, emphasized the secret of knowing God: first, we have to ask ourselves “Who am I?”, as we grow we grapple to see our identity and gifts. St. Teresa had struggled a lot to know herself. We cannot know ourselves unless we know God. Our relationship with God and the essence of our existence is very important. Through prayer we will know ourselves better. We have to get to know more ourselves before we can enter las Siete Moradas. The second secret is to ask ourselves: “To whom do we belong? To whom do I belong?”. That’s when the commitment enters. We belong to Jesus, who is the meaning and essence of our existence.

Echoing the wisdom of St. Teresa de Ávila, who exclaimed: “Solo Dios basta”, “God alone is enough”, St. Joaquina tells us the reason: “únicamente dios es nuestro bien”, which means he is the only one to whom we must give ourselves totally

Que nuestra voluntad, nuestras potencias, nuestros sentidos, sean para Jesús… Que hemos de hacer por Dios sino darle todo, todo, y por todo ser de Él.

Let our will, our powers, our senses, be for Jesus… What shall we do for God but give Him everything, everything, and for everything to be His.

Right after the Eucharist, attended by some of our neighbors, we gathered together in the Dining Room of the Delegation House for the simple but sumptuous lunch.
