In the Amazon, between brushes and palettes, we overcome aggressiveness.

The rural network of Fe y Alegría n°72- Pucallpa, which develops its activities in the lower jungle of Peru, is dedicated to educate and train citizens, through quality education, to transform their communities or villages. In its pedagogical action, it reinforces teacher training, integral pedagogical accompaniment, intercultural bilingual education and integral ecology.

During the pedagogical accompaniment of the teachers of the I.E. of the Santa Martha Nativade Community, the 5th and 6th grade students of the primary level showed disinterest and violent behavior, which prevented them from concentrating in order to receive their lessons.

Faced with this reality, the pedagogical team decided to look for an alternative solution to this situation and thought that pictorial art could help them. They contacted their friend and teacher Liz Tania Díaz Velaque, who voluntarily agreed to help these students by offering them a few days of workshops.

Liz Tania has found in painting not only a form of personal expression full of emotions but also a powerful tool to positively impact community life and/or educational institutions. Her plastic art reflects the social and emotional reality of children. Her commitment goes beyond painting, extending to educational and social workshops that use art as a therapeutic and empowering tool.

For 3 months, one day a week, she managed to capture in the students the desire to learn, interest and receptivity to the proposed activities, getting them to show and develop their artistic skills.

In his strokes one can observe order and the desire to excel, as well as disorder, aggressiveness and rebelliousness.

As the workshops have progressed, the students have been able to demonstrate space management, mastery of the painting technique, a taste for learning, the development of creativity, love for art, hope to continue trusting in themselves and resilience.

In addition, through their brushes and palettes they have left a legacy of beauty and social commitment in the Educational Institution.

With this work we affirm, once again, that art is a means of emotional development for overcoming and transforming their lives and creating a positive impact on society.

We thank the Carmelite Sisters of Vedruna for the economic support that allowed us to have the adequate materials for the students to carry out their work.
